Students know that English is the lingua franca and that it is the first or official language in many countries around the world. But how much do they really know about the English-speaking world beyond stereotypes and landmarks? And how can we make them curious about culture, to investigate stereotyping and to explore changing world cultures in general? In this informative and practical session, we will look at ways to encourage secondary learners to understand, evaluate and embrace the beauty and variety of English-speaking cultures, with language and content linked in purposeful and powerful lessons.
